Living a victorious and overcoming life would be much easier without the unexpected bumps and hiccups along the way. We tend to prefer sunshine over rain. Rain can be so dreary, especially when it stays a while. However, we know the world would be a desolate
place without it. It’s very much the same in the spiritual. It takes both the sunshine and the rain in our lives for us to grow in our walk with God. Psalms 34:18 says “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit”. It is such a powerful thing to feel the presence of God in life’s broken places. Emotional pain and heartache aren’t pleasant. But knowing that God is walking with us “through the valley of
the shadow of death” grows our trust and our faith in Him. Every trial He leads us through brings us face to face with His love and might. It’s one thing to have heard He’s the Way Maker, but it’s a beautiful thing to KNOW it for oneself. Look for opportunities in your life to tell someone who’s hurting how God’s seen you through the rain.
