In Nehemiah 8:10(KJV) the last portion of the verse tells us “for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” The word, joy means happiness and delight. (Webster) Many times we do not realize how much joy affects our everyday lives. The word joy is known as one of the “Fruits of the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-23(KJV) our lives revolve around on our own joy and the joy we give
Romans 15:13(KVJ) “Now the God of hope fill you with all the joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” To know that God fills us joy and peace through the Holy Ghost is comforting. He wants us to rejoice and be full of joy. Many times, life has a way of taking our joy right out of us. Yet, knowing “the joy of the Lord is our strength” is how we can make it each and every day. Psalms 16:11 (KJV) “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in Thy presences is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Regardless, if we’re in the House of Lord, worshiping and feeling God’s divine presences or if were on jobs, at school, or at home; the joy of the Lord is always within our reach. For we depend on the joy we get in HIM, to give us our strength.
And that kind joy is everlasting!
