Psalm 118:13(RSV) “I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me.”
Sometimes life pushes us hard. Sometimes it feels like a violent push. When we get pushed physically, in our natural lives, it knocks us off balance, we stumble, we react, we feel violated, angry, hurt, we feel fear, panic, and are totally caught off guard. It’s the same way emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Sometimes life pushes us hard. Sometimes we are falling. A loved one becomes sick, or even dies, an accident happens, change comes, hurts happen, betrayal happens, disappointment comes, dreams are crushed, family problems, financial crisis, and the list could go on. Sometimes life pushes us HARD. But the last part of the verse is our hope!
“BUT, the Lord helped me.” If it had not been for the Lord, we would have fallen. We were
falling. But the Lord helped us! So we did not fall! Life has pushed me many times. I was falling, knocked off balance, I felt hurt, angry, confused, disoriented, afraid, but the Lord helped me! And I know if He did it before, He will do it again. If life pushes me hard, so that I am falling, the Lord WILL help me! Thank you Lord, for that promise and that hope!
