Nehemiah 2:17 (KJV) “Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we [are] in, how Jerusalem [lieth] waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.” The moment has come for Nehemiah to be what God has called him to be. It would not be helpful for him to shirk back from the moment with feelings of inadequacies or fear. So, in boldness he casts a clear vision of hope. Nehemiah’s vision was built around the fact that they could all “see” the great need that they were in and that they needed hope and direction. When others hear him speak his vision they recognize that it is from God and they want to join this powerful vision of hope. Be an agent of hope in a world of hopelessness. Be the one in your family that stands forth with a voice that sees beyond the despair and sees and speaks hope.
