52 Days. Day 30, Facing the Opposition When Feeling Overwhelmed.

Discouragement has fallen upon the people because of how much work and how much rubbish they’re dealing with to build the wall (Ch. 4 vs. 10). They feel like giving up.  The enemy sees this as his chance to move in and slay them (vs. 11). The people hear the enemy say “ten times” that they’re coming to destroy us (vs. 12). It’s just like Paul said in 2 Corinthians 7:5 “without were fightings, within were fears.” But Nehemiah responds by putting armed men in the weak places and making sure families were together and that they too were armed (vs. 13). Then he speaks a word of faith to them and says (vs. 14), “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.” The people of God needed to be reminded Who and what this was really all about. And that brought a unity and determination when they were feeling overwhelmed; and this moves them forward by faith. Nehemiah 4:15 (NKJV) “And it happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and [that] God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work.”
