52 Days. Day 47, I Refuse to Come Down!

Nehemiah 6:3 (KJV) “And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I [am] doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?” The work is nearly complete! The only hope Nehemiah’s enemies have of undoing it is to cause him to get distracted and lose focus. Nehemiah has the high-ground literally, spiritually, and metaphorically. And his enemies know it! So they must get him to “come down.” That has always been the tactic of our adversary. Bow to the image when you hear the music, the evil king told them. Paul asked those who were struggling in Galatians 5:7 (KJV) “Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?” Every one of us must have a tenacious spirit when it comes to the things of God! Do you know your core values? Do you have a love for the Truth? Those things inside of you that are not negotiable. Those truths that you will never come down from. We each must have those things inside of us, because our enemy will do everything in his power to convince us to come down, to compromise, to sell out. The pressure is very real in these days that we live in. Truly, we are living in the text that tells us our enemy has come down with great wrath knowing he has only a short time (Rev. 12:12). What are we to do? Our Lord told us in Luke 21:28 (KJV) “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Keep doing the great work you’re doing for God, and refuse to come down!
