Petition. Nehemiah 1:11 (KJV) “O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.” Repentance moves into petition, as we admit our weaknesses and our inability to set things right without God’s help; we feel boldness to approach the throne of grace. Jesus taught us to pray “Your will be done.” He wants us to know that our authority comes from asking for God’s purposes to be fulfilled. Take time to “ask” to “seek” to “knock” in prayer by petitioning God.
